Things To Take On A Hike

Millions of people go camping every year and that number is not about to drop. The fact that more people are going camping also means that more people will be going hiking as well. If you like to go on hikes then you need to be prepared for whatever might come your way because that is how a real hiker prepares for things.

A lot of people think that as long as they have some good hiking shoes then they will be alright, trust me, you won’t be alright. If you want to make sure that you are safe and have all the bases covered then you need to take the items that I list below because without them you won’t have the necessary tools you need to survive in the event you get lost and have to spend the night in the wild.

Things Every Hiker Should Have

Backpack – Having a backpack is really only important to carry everything that you need. When you are going hiking you want to have both hands free and the only way to do that is to have a backpack to carry all your stuff in.

Waterproof Matches – If you do get stuck out in the forest or wherever you are hiking then you will need a way to stay warm and possibly cook something and that is why having matches is important. The reason you need waterproof matches is because you don’t want to get out there and have a box of wet matches that don’t do anything.

Poncho – Whenever you are out in the forest you need to have a poncho just in case it rains. The reason they are important is because they will keep you dry and make sure you don’t get sick.

Bottled Water – Whenever you are walking around you should have bottled water. The purpose of the water is to revitalize you if you become dehydrated. I don’t think I need to tell you all the benefits of having water with you, right?

Compass – If you are hiking without a compass then you should not be hiking at all. You need to have at least 2 compasses just in case 1 doesn’t work.

Flashlight – When you are out in the forest you need to have more than one flashlight with you at all times. I would highly recommend that you have 2 flashlights, a smaller pocket sized flashlight and a bigger one that has a few different modes on it.

If you want to make sure you are safe then taking all of these things with you is a must. Just make sure that you don’t leave anything behind because you never know when you might need it.
